How to change my life? - Part I

Does changing your life seem difficult? In the next few days I'll be posting powerful techniques which are effective, simple and CAN-do . Here's the first one:

What is discipline? It is simply choosing between the things you want now and things you want most. Let me give you an example of what I am talking about.

Imagine you are standing in front of an open fridge, inside is a gallon of your favorite chocolate ice cream waiting to be eaten. You are aware that you already set a goal of losing weight. What will you do?

a. " Let me forget my diet for a moment and have this delicious ice cream!"
b. " Ah, let me take my diet next week, for now let me eat this one!!!! "
c.  " Hmmm... okay, let me just have one scoop " after a few minutes you end up eating more scoops

Note that this doesn't only happen in the example I gave. This is applicable to anything which requires discipline and achieving goals. How about choosing this statement?

d. " What I want at a moment is this ice cream but what I want most is to lose weight, therefore I must close the fridge now or let me take an apple instead! "

Make a habit of disciplining yourself even in the smallest thing you do.  How can you change big things in your life if in you can’t discipline yourself in the smallest thing? What CAN you do right now? Do you have an answer now? Start from there.

When the Heart is Ready...

Someone asks me today why people need to die. I replied : " Go blame Eve for eating the apple and asking Adam to eat it as well! ".

The death of love ones is one of the most difficult pace of life. We all know that eventually, all of us will have the same fate. So what's the good news about this? "To be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord" - 2 Corinthians 5:8 . It maybe a terrible process but know that if Jesus died and rose from the dead, so we believe God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. see 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. Everything has its time therefore, I believe it is alright to grieve. When the heart is ready, you'll soon be dancing in joy.

Passion as Profession?

Sunday, August 11, we watched a movie called 3 Idiots, an Indian Film. The movie tackles about making your passion a profession. Is it still possible to apply this ideology in the present society? We are living in the busy 21st century. Life nowadays is all about generating money for yourself, your future or your family. Can you still use what you truly love as a profession if your priority is earning money for a living?

Honestly, I have conflicting thoughts on this. There are some people who earns millions of dollars yet never gets fulfillment from getting their job done. On the contrary, there are some people who loves their job and earns from little to just enough, if you know what I mean.

To analyze this, I reviewed my past. During my childhood, I have a great interest in Science which turns out to be my degree - Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. I do not have any regrets in taking up this course because like I said, I love science specially - Chemistry. I practiced this profession in a little length of time which turns out to be not so much fulfilling in terms of financial needs at that moment.

Eventually, I changed my line of work from science to clerical to managerial then into managerial & technical. I can say that my current job is still in line with science since I deal mostly on complexities of technology namely, Microsoft products. I just couldn't practice what I mostly learned in college days other than sharing it to students during my part time work as Chemistry tutor. Moreover, there is a significant difference between what I am earning now compared in the past.

Do I enjoy my current work? hmmm... let me think about it. My dear readers, let me save my answer and leave these questions instead:

  • What are your priorities?
  • What kind of profession do want to have which you think you will enjoy?
  • What are the good qualities of your current job do you like most?
  • If you can change your line of work, what would it be? Why would like to change it?
  • What are the factors that affect your decision in taking your current or future job?
  • Which do you really like, the job title or the tasks/responsibilities that is associated with the job?

Happy reading and remember - GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME!

Celebrate Every Good Thing in Your Life

One way of maintaining the spirit of gratefulness is to celebrate every little good thing that comes to your life. Oh well, what do I mean by celebrate? It sounds as if you would have to create a party, isn't it? The truth is, celebration simply means to rejoice about an event. Rejoicing doesn't mean that you have to create a big party. A simple remembrance of the special event would do.

Example, if something good happens, you can write it on a diary. This way you'll be reminded of the good days, good memories and good events in your life. It also creates the feeling of " Wow, I'm so blessed " which is indeed true. It also makes you appreciate more of small and big things that you receive everyday. Do this as a habit and you'll find great results!

So what are the things or events that you are grateful about? Here's mine : I'm so much thankful that you are reading my blog right now!!! What about you? :-)

There is no Failure Only RESULTS!

Never be scared to reach the heights! When you are having second thoughts or fear of failing just remember this : "There is no such thing as failure only results." So what if you found out that you made a bad decision? Learn from it! The more you acquire results the closer you get to your destination.

In addition, when you have a victorious God what is it that you need to be afraid of?

Here's what I learned:

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye." - Psalm 32:8

"I can do all things through him who strengthens me." -  Philippians 4:13

" Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:4-7

God is good all the time! Thank you Jesus :-)

I'm victorious because my God Is!

I had my plans set up but I am so much amaze on how God guides me! I acquired advises from knowledgeable people in reference to my plans. I believe that "Without consultation, plans are frustrated, but with many counselors they succeed. - Proverbs 15:22 " and that "The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity. - Proverbs 11:3".

I hear you Lord... for...

"A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. - Proverbs 16:9"

I want everything!

" I want to be rich, I want to have that beautiful house, I want a new car, oh I want a perfect life... I want this and that and everything that I can see!!!"

Before anything else.....

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. - Matthew 6:33
